If you’re reading this, you’re either the kind of person who loves music, is inspired by good stories, and enjoys discovering more about the thought process of a specific artist….OR you’re the other kind of person who right now this moment is currently doing these three things at once; cringing, rolling your eyes, and exhaling deeply with disgust. I get it, watching a stranger promote themselves performing music, discussing personal thoughts about their life journey, or learning about some of the intimate moments and experiences of an artist is just weird. Weird like a modern day ‘music version’ of Uncle Rico (from Napoleon Dynamite).
Being a husband, father of young kids, and a realtor has been an all consuming experience over the last decade (to say the least). Even though it’s seemed like a blur, I’ve loved every minute of it! I have also really missed being involved with music like I have in the past. It’s always been an important part of my childhood, adolescence, and life as a young adult and I’m excited to be getting back into it more and sharing new music and ideas.
Maybe it’s from the last decade of having a bunch of repressed creative ideas? Perhaps it’s too much Covid19 isolation this last year? Maybe it’s a midlife crisis? It could also just be the way I decompress and cope with stress in my life? However you want to interpret it, I’m just really excited to have a place to share some of my creative ideas and music on this new official ‘David Olson Music’ website.
Hope you enjoy the music, laughter, and experiences that I call my life. If you like to buy and listen to any of my new music, it will all be sold exclusively here on this website. Thanks for joining me on this adventure!
Grace and peace, David Olson
About Me
After taking a break from writing and performing music for a couple years, I’m official back! Not because I’m trying to be cool, sell stuff, or impress anyone (I’m too old for that kind of thing and honesty, just don’t care). Instead, I’m just one of those creative ‘artsy’ people who loves writing, performing great music, and sharing good stories. It’s in my blood, it’s like medicine for my soul, and like an escape from some of the chaos of life. I write about what inspires and matters to me most. I create all this nerd music/video stuff from my home studio in my basement. I’m a husband and father of three beautiful kiddos. My day job is being a realtor here in Minnesota and I love it!

Ever since I was three, my parents forced me to take music lessons. First it was the violin where they had me play at nursing homes, recitals, and school events. Then before I was went through puberty, I played trumpet in the local marching band and Twin Cities youth symphonies.
Looking back, I’m not sure if my parents were trying to help me foster a love for music OR just prevent me from having a girlfriend. Luckily in high school it all changed for me once I bought a guitar at a garage sale, and the rest was history. I played in bands, church groups, and eventually went to Northwestern college to study the guitar. It was never meant to be a career, just something I loved and was passionate about. After college I started my own band and worked in a local church as a music director for around five years. In 2007 I released an album called ‘Beloved’ and in 2008 another one called ‘Change.’ I was also able to play with a group from the East Coast called ‘Sacred Road.’ At the time it was great traveling and performing while I worked on my master degree at Bethel University.
Once I was married and had kids, life changed, and so did the opportunity for doing music. Over the last decade I’ve focused on building a real estate business in Minnesota and raising my three daughters. It’s been a wonderful, wild, and all consuming experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything.
Now my beautiful kiddos are past the ‘infant baby’ stage, and I’m ready to dive into some new music ventures again and share some of the stories, lessons, and music I’ve been holding onto for the last couple years. Thanks for your patience and for joining me as this next new chapter of life continues to grow and my music website gets more original content, stories, and songs. I hope you’re inspired and blessed by experiencing it!
